RUBY

The ruby, known as the king of gems, is cherished for its beauty and rarity. It symbolizes passion, love, courage, protection, and prosperity across various cultures. This vibrant red gem, a variety of corundum (aluminum oxide), owes its color to chromium. Rubies, though not formed in large crystals, are highly prized for their intense color. Major sources include Myanmar, Mozambique, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Greenland, Afghanistan, and Madagascar. As durable as it is beautiful, ranking just below diamonds on the Mohs scale of hardness, rubies are a popular choice for rings, necklaces, and earrings.

SAPPHIRE

Sapphire, a symbol of wisdom, nobility, and divine favor, is often associated with royalty. This gem, another variety of corundum, comes in a spectrum of colors except red, which is classified as ruby. Known for celebrating color, sapphires are predominantly found in Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Madagascar. Unlike emeralds or rubies, sapphires often form larger crystals, making them a popular choice for engagement rings and other fine jewelry due to their exceptional durability and rich hues.

EMERALD

Celebrated for its lush, vibrant green, the emerald is a symbol of rebirth, love, and fertility. Many traditions believe emeralds bring good fortune and possess healing properties, enhancing clarity of thought and vision. Sourced mainly from Colombia, Brazil, and Zambia, emeralds are softer than sapphires and rubies, necessitating careful wear and handling. The unique internal characteristics, or “Jardin,” are accepted and seen as part of their natural beauty. Emeralds are treasured in both vintage and contemporary jewelry designs.

DIAMOND

Diamonds symbolize eternal love and strength, being the hardest natural material found on Earth. These precious stones are mined globally, with significant sources in Botswana, Russia, and Canada. Diamonds are celebrated for their unparalleled brilliance and fire, qualities that are enhanced through expert cutting and polishing. While they come in various colors, the classic clear or white diamond remains the most popular in jewelry. Their durability makes them perfect for everyday wear, especially in engagement rings and a wide range of fine jewelry.
